110km Mass Participation Ride Monday 30th August 2004 Our very own intrepid duo (or is it the gruesome twosome?) Robin Day and Gerald Bone, allowed to escape from Bourne and make it over to Manchester for a very tough 110km "Mass Participation Ride" to celebrate/mark the impending return of a prestigious stage race to Britain. The main event was to start two days later but this event took in many of the roads (and climbs) that the pros were due to face. The photos here were taken by Andy Jones on behalf of the British Cycling Federation at the top of Holme Moss, the toughest climb of the day. Are those facial expressions elation or relief chaps? Well done!! |
