Lincs League Cyclo-Cross: Sunday 27th November Ostlers Plantation near Woodhall Spa was the venue for the latest round of the Lincs cyclo-cross league. Frosty conditions ensured that the ground was hard and made for fast racing. Bourne Wheelers Cycling Club rider Alistair Slater blasted around the course and despite being only twelve years old he finished 7th overall in the Under16's category and won the Under 14s category. ![]() Photo of Alistair at the Go-Ride activities at the Tour of Britain Nottingham stage finish earlier this year. |

8th November 2005: Bourne Wheelers Go-Ride Inter-Club Event: Saturday 12th November Please click HERE to find out more! The session will cost £2 & there will be age category prizes subject to numbers for all events. Please arrive at least 15 minutes beforehand in order to sign-on & get your number. Riders who were not at the recent club session will need to ride a 200m time trial prior to the event start. Parking as usual in the Rainbow supermarket car park opposite. 10.00am - 11.30am |

23rd October 2005: CANCELLED - Bourne Wheelers Go-Ride club session Sat 29 Oct. This session has been CANCELLED due to most riders taking advantage of the long holiday break & going away to faraway places. We will resume on 12 November & this will be an inter-club Go-Ride session involving Spalding, Boston & Lincoln clubs. 9th October 2005: Bourne Wheelers youth riders had their first opportunity of the year to compete off-road in the Lincs League cyclo-cross event at Bourne Woods last weekend. Poppy Riley (9yrs) was the star rider taking first place in the girls event and 15th overall. Sian Botteley (9yrs) was 3rd in the girls event and 21st overall. The boys faired well too with Alistair Slater (12yrs) lapping most of the riders to take 2nd place overall just a few metres behind winner Lennox Saint of Yelo Velo, Boston. Joshua Beech took 5th place with Ted Davies just missing out of the top 10 to finish 12th overall. |

29th August 2005: A youth team from Bourne Wheelers Cycling Club will be in front of cycling's world press, television and cycling fans when they compete in Go-Ride activities at the Nottingham stage finish of the Tour of Britain on Friday. The lucky riders, from Baston, Langtoft, Deeping & Bourne, will demonstrate their skills in races against riders from other regional Go-Ride clubs prior to the arrival of the international professional peleton. The youngsters will be in action again on Saturday when Bourne Wheelers resume the autumn Go-ride & youth cycling sessions at Manning Road playing field in Bourne 10-11.30am. |

16th August 2005: Once again we were at Grimsthorpe Castle for the Bourne Wheelers youth cyclists to practise their road craft and learn new racing skills yesterday. The boys and girls aged 8-12yrs undertook short distance sprinting, group formation riding, cornering and hill climbing and ended the evening with an individual time trial of just over 3 miles with one rider completing a 6 mile distance. 2nd August 2005: The wonderful setting and traffic free estate roads of Grimsthorpe Castle were the ideal venue for Bourne Wheelers youth cyclists to practise their road craft and learn new racing skills on Monday evening. The boys and girls aged 8-12yrs undertook short distance sprinting, group formation riding, cornering and hill climbing and ended the evening with an individual time trial of just over 3 miles. Bourne rider Alistair Slater, averaged over 16mph to record the fastest time of 11mins 6secs. Swapping his mountain bike for a road bike was second placed rider Daniel Grammattica (Langtoft) in 12mins57secs. 1st July 2005: Bourne Wheelers Cycling Club have recently affiliated to the sports main governing body British Cycling and have registered as a Go-Ride club. Go-Ride is British Cycling’s national initiave and provides an opportunity for children to take part in fun cycling skills, activities and racing in a traffic free environment. Go-Ride has a series of skills & endurance tests that are not only fun be are also used nationally for talent spotting purposes.
